History

Harrison & Sons printed a souvenir sheet for Britain's National Stamp Exhibition, Stampex, held at Central Hall, Westminster, from 16 to 24 March 1962. The sheet is imperforate. The stamp reproductions are in black, inside a red frame, and the perforations are drawn as wavy lines rather than punched. The head reads BRITAIN'S NATIONAL STAMP EXHIBITION. STAMPEX 1962 runs down the left margin and MARCH 16TH–24TH down the right. The foot reads CENTRAL HALL · WESTMINSTER · LONDON · S·W·1. The lower margin credits HARRISON & SONS LIMITED, LONDON and states that the postage stamps are reproduced by permission of the Postmaster General.

Five commemoratives are shown, each named with its designer. At upper left is the 1935 Silver Jubilee ½d, King George V between the dates 1910 and 1935, by Barnett Freedman. At lower left is the 1948 Olympic Games 3d, the globe and rings with King George VI, by Abram Games. The centre is the 1948 Royal Silver Wedding, Queen Elizabeth and King George VI with the dates 1923–1948, by Joan Hassall. At upper right is the 1957 Jubilee Jamboree 2½d, the Scout badge and a coiled rope beside the Queen, with 1907 and 1957, by Mary Adshead. At lower right is the 1960 Europa 6d for the Conference of European Postal and Telecommunications Administrations, by Reynolds Stone.

The sheet has no face value of its own and was not valid for postage.
