History
Jamaica issued three commemoratives at Kingston on 27 August 1964 for the VI Inter-American Scout Conference. Each stamp is inscribed VI INTER-AMERICAN SCOUT CONFERENCE with the country name JAMAICA and the year 1964.
Victor Whitely designed the set. The 3 d shows a Scout belt buckle with a red medallion bearing the World Scout fleur-de-lis and the belt straps threaded through the side slots, on a pale peach ground. The 8 d places a Scout hat on a globe of the Americas above a neckerchief with a fleur-de-lis woggle, on a pale blue ground. The 1 s is triangular: a gold fleur-de-lis above the white crocodile from Jamaica's coat of arms, with the conference title along the upper edges and the value 1/- at both lower corners.
Harrison & Sons printed the issue in photogravure on paper watermarked multiple J and pineapple. The rectangular 3 d and 8 d measure 29 × 34 mm and are perforated Comb 14½ × 14, issued in panes of sixty (10 × 6). The triangular 1 s measures 67 × 34 mm, is perforated Comb 14, and was issued in panes of sixty (12 × 5, tête-bêche). The stamps were withdrawn from sale on 26 November 1964.
