History

The Maldive Islands issued four commemoratives at Malé on 1 January 1968 honouring the Boy Scout Movement. Maxim Shamir designed the set; the Israel Government Printers produced it by offset lithography in panes of twelve with decorative borders, comb perforated 14 × 14½. Two designs alternate through the values: the 2 L and 25 L show Baden-Powell with a wolf-cub emblem, a Scout signalling with semaphore flags and Wolf Cubs at a campfire, and the legend Maldivian Wolf Cubs – Do Your Best; the 3 L and 1 r show Baden-Powell with Scouts saluting and a drummer under the legend Maldivian Boy Scouts – Be Prepared. A miniature sheet of the designs is also recorded.
