History

On 8 August 1977 Dominica issued six commemoratives and a souvenir sheet for the 6th Caribbean Scout Jamboree in Jamaica. Each stamp is inscribed DOMINICA and CARIBBEAN BOY SCOUT JAMBOREE · JAMAICA 1977.

Waddington Studios designed the set. The House of Questa printed it by offset lithography, comb perforated 14¼, 43 × 29 mm, in panes of 50.

Every value shows the same saluting Scout in a green beret and yellow neckerchief at right, with the World Scout emblem at upper left. The half-cent, captioned hiking, shows four Scouts on a trail. The 1 cent, first aid, shows two Scouts bandaging a casualty. The 2 cents shows Scouts at orange A-frame tents. The 45 cents, rock climbing, shows two Scouts on a rope. The 50 cents shows two kayaks. The 3 dollars, sailing, shows dinghies being launched.

The souvenir sheet, 111 × 113 mm, has a brown field, a rope border tied in a reef knot, and a large white Scout sign. It carries two designs not among the six: a 75 cent of Scouts at a map and a 2 dollar of Scouts at a camp-fire.
