History
Grenada issued seven commemoratives and a souvenir sheet on 6 September 1977 for the 6th Caribbean Scout Jamboree, held at Kingston, Jamaica, from 5 to 14 August 1977. Gordon Drummond designed the issue. The House of Questa printed it by offset lithography, comb perforated 14. Each stamp is landscape, 41 × 28 mm, inscribed GRENADA and SIXTH CARIBBEAN JAMBOREE, JAMAICA.
The ½ cent, lettered PIONEERING PROJECT, shows five Scouts on a log raft with orange pontoons. The 1 cent is a tug-of-war before camp tents. The 2 cent is a Sea Scouts regatta. The 18 cent, lettered CAMP-FIRE NIGHT, shows silhouettes before a fire. The 40 cent is a field kitchen of three Scouts at a brick hearth. The 1 dollar pairs Grenada Sea Scouts in sailor hats with Grenada Scouts in khaki. The 2 dollar, lettered HIKING & MAP READING, shows two Scouts with a map and two on a trail.
The souvenir sheet, 107 × 85 mm, holds a single 3 dollar stamp lettered SEMAPHORE: one Scout signals with red-and-white flags, another writes on a log. The margin gives the Kingston dates and spells WELCOME in semaphore.
