History
Norfolk Island issued four self-adhesive commemoratives on 22 August 1978 for fifty years of Scouting there, 1928–1978. S. R. Jensen designed the set. Walsall Security Printers lithographed it. Each stamp is die-cut in the outline of the island on a square backing, 58 × 55 mm, rouletted 20 between the squares, in panes of 20. The peelable backing carries a green multiple-pine pattern and a tourist inscription.
Every stamp is lettered NORFOLK ISLAND and 50 Years of Scouting 1928–1978.
The 20 cents shows a Scout cooking over a camp-fire on the grass above Duncombe Bay, with a small purple fleur-de-lis badge.
The 25 cents shows the view from Kingston — shoreline, pasture and Norfolk Island pines — with a green Scout badge, a gold fleur-de-lis in a rope circle.
The 35 cents shows Anson Bay. A diamond Link Badge of three linked rings sits between two Scout figures, with a purple fleur-de-lis at upper left.
The 45 cents shows a sunset among pines and a portrait of Baden-Powell in Scout hat, lettered LORD BADEN-POWELL, with a purple fleur-de-lis.
