Complete sheet of sixteen labels in four rows of four, headed 中國童子軍 — Boy Scouts of China — over 台灣省四十七年夏令露營紀念. Each label shows the island of Taiwan with its county boundaries, the Scout fleur-de-lis at the upper left, and the date 中華民國四十七年八月 at the foot.
Series history
A complete sheet of sixteen green labels, four rows of four, printed for the provincial summer camp of the Boy Scouts of China held in Taiwan in August 1958. They carry no face value and no postal validity: cinderellas, issued for the camp.
The heading across the top of the sheet reads 中國童子軍, Boy Scouts of China, with 台灣省四十七年夏令露營紀念 beneath it — in commemoration of the Taiwan province summer camp of the forty-seventh year. Each label repeats the same design: the island of Taiwan drawn with its county boundaries, the Scout fleur-de-lis at the upper left, and the date 中華民國四十七年八月 along the foot.
The dating runs on the Republic of China calendar, which counts from the founding of the republic in 1912. The forty-seventh year is 1958, and the eighth month is August, so the sheet fixes its own date without reference to any catalogue.
The labels are unlisted: no Scott, Michel, Yvert or Stanley Gibbons number, and no printer named on the sheet. The sheet is catalogued here as a single piece rather than as sixteen, since that is how it survives.
