Notes

Kim's Gun (Zamzama) with Scout fleur-de-lis; 3rd National Jamboree Lahore

Series history

Pakistan issued a 2 anna commemorative on 24 December 1960 for the 3rd National Boy Scout Jamboree at Lahore, held from 24 to 31 December 1960. Places of sale included Karachi and other post offices; the stamp was withdrawn from sale on 31 January 1964.

The design shows Kim's Gun — the Zamzama cannon — against a dark cross-hatched field, with the Scout fleur-de-lis in a yellow oval at lower right. The frame reads 3RD. PAKISTAN · NATIONAL JAMBOREE LAHORE · 24TH–31ST. DEC.1960, with PAKISTAN in English, Urdu and Bengali across the top.

Pakistan Security Printing produced 300,000 copies by engraving and typography in panes of eighty, perforated 12½ × 13; De La Rue is credited for the engraving.
