Series history
The United States issued a 4-cent stamp at Burlington, Vermont, on 24 July 1962 for the fiftieth anniversary of the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. The design shows a Girl Scout in profile wearing the organisation's hat and trefoil badge, set against three wavy stripes of the national flag, with the inscription Girl Scouts U.S.A.
One hundred and twenty million copies were printed in panes of 50. Designer Ward Brackett; Bureau of Engraving and Printing; engraved; perforated 11 × 10½.
