Scout with campaign hat and red anniversary pennant; trilingual scout legends
Series history
Switzerland released its annual publicity series at Bern on 21 March 1963. One of the six values — the 5 centimes — marks the fiftieth anniversary of Swiss Boy Scouting (1913–1963). Eric Poncy designed a Scout in campaign hat holding a red pennant inscribed with those years; the trilingual legends Pfadfinder / Éclaireurs / Esploratori appear above Helvetia. Helio Courvoisier printed the stamp by photogravure on granite paper in panes of 25 with a border inscription; about 11.9 million were issued. Perforation is given as about 11½–11¾.
