Notes
White Scout fleur-de-lis on a greenish-teal and white diamond lattice with fern-like motifs; Māori-inspired side borders; JAMBOREE, PROGRESS, SCOUTS 1966
Series history
New Zealand issued a single 4 penny commemorative on 5 January 1966 for the 4th National Scout Jamboree, with first-day use at Trentham and other offices. The stamp was withdrawn from sale on 28 February 1966.
The design centres a white Scout fleur-de-lis on a diamond lattice of greenish-teal and white, the darker lozenges carrying small fern-like motifs, with vertical side borders in a geometric Māori-inspired pattern. JAMBOREE runs across the top; PROGRESS reads up the left; SCOUTS 1966 reads up the right; 4d and NEW ZEALAND close the foot.
The Display Section of the General Post Office designed the stamp. Harrison & Sons printed it by photogravure in sheets of 160 (two panes of 80 with gutter pairs), perforated 14 × 14½, on paper watermarked multiple NZ and star.
