Horizontal stamp: large portrait of a smiling young man looking upward at left; at right three youths in light green short-sleeved shirts and shorts, one holding the Chad flag (blue–yellow–red vertical), beside an MJT shield in the national colours. Inscribed REPUBLIQUE DU TCHAD, POSTES and MOUVEMENT DE LA JEUNESSE TCHADIENNE; value 25F. Margins signed P. LAMBERT and SO. GE. IM.
Series history
Chad issued a single 25 f commemorative postage stamp on 11 August 1966 for the Mouvement de la Jeunesse Tchadienne (MJT). The stamp is inscribed REPUBLIQUE DU TCHAD and MOUVEMENT DE LA JEUNESSE TCHADIENNE, with POSTES at upper right, so it is ordinary postage rather than an airmail issue.
Pierrette Lambert designed the stamp; the margins are signed P. LAMBERT and SO. GE. IM. It was printed in photogravure and comb perforated 12½ × 13. The design shows a large portrait of a smiling young man at left; at right, three youths in light green short-sleeved shirts and shorts stand with the national flag of Chad, beside a shield bearing the letters MJT over the national colours.
The stamp does not name Scouting or show a fleur-de-lis; the uniforms and flag alone do not establish a Scout affiliation. Imperforate and de luxe proof printings are known; they are not included here as separate catalogue pieces.
