Notes
Two Scouts raise a plaque with the 12th World Jamboree emblem (fleur-de-lis over mountains, WORLD JAMBOREE 1967 / IDAHO U.S.A.) before a globe grid and campfire; Arabic and French inscriptions; POSTES 1,00; JAMBOREE MONDIAL 1967; ALGERIE.
Series history
Algeria issued a 1.00 dinar commemorative at Algiers on 23 December 1967 for the 12th World Scout Jamboree, held from 31 July to 9 August 1967 at Farragut State Park, Idaho, United States, under the theme For Friendship.
P. Lambert designed the stamp and J. Combet engraved it. Two Scouts in uniform raise a plaque bearing the jamboree emblem — a fleur-de-lis over mountains lettered WORLD JAMBOREE 1967 / IDAHO U.S.A. — before a globe grid and a campfire at right; a blue ornamental frame surrounds the vignette. The stamp is inscribed in Arabic and French, with POSTES 1,00 at upper left, JAMBOREE MONDIAL 1967 across the foot band, and ALGERIE at the base.
The Imprimerie des Timbres-Poste, Paris, produced 200,000 copies by recess engraving in panes of ten (2 × 5, with gutter pairs), perforated comb 13. Stamp size is 40 × 52 mm. An imperforate variety and an imperforate deluxe sheet are also known.
