Series history

Israel issued a single commemorative at Jerusalem on 21 August 1968 for the fiftieth anniversary of Jewish Scouting. Eliezer Weishoff designed the stamp; E. Lewin-Epstein printed it by offset lithography in panes of fifteen (3 × 5) with tabs, comb perforated 13, in the format 31 × 31 mm. The print run was 1,756,000. On a dark green field, a Star of David formed by knotted rope encloses a white Scout fleur-de-lis; the stamp is inscribed ISRAEL in Hebrew, English and Arabic and SCOUTING with its Hebrew equivalent. The sheet tabs carry a golden horn, the figure 50, and a bilingual legend marking the anniversary.
