Series history
Iran issued a 10 rial commemorative on 5 August 1977 for the 2nd Asia-Pacific Scout Jamboree, held that summer at Omar Khayyám Scout Park in Nishapur. The stamp is lettered 2ND ASIA-PACIFIC JAMBOREE IRAN 1977, IRAN and 10R., with پست ایران and ۱۰ ریال. The Persian heading names Nishapur and the year ۲۵۳۶.
Two stemmed flower-heads rise from a yellow map of Asia on a purple-blue field. Each bloom carries a Scout fleur-de-lis over water and a radiating sun — the taller red flower from the Iranian plateau, the shorter orange flower from the east of the map.
The Government Press printed it in panes of 50, comb perforated 13, on paper watermarked with a Persian inscription and the coat of arms in a circle. One million copies were printed. Validity ended on 1 April 1979. Sources differ on whether the process was photogravure or lithography, and give no designer.
