Series history

The Faroe Islands issued a 140 oyra commemorative at Tórshavn on 7 December 1978 for fifty years of Girl Scouting there. The stamp is upright, 25 × 35 mm, lettered GENTUSKÓTAR 1928–1978, FØROYAR and 140, with F. JOHANNESEN at the foot.

A Girl Scout in green stands before a white tent; a camp-fire burns at left under a night sky and a white moon. A blue-and-white trefoil badge sits above the value.

Frits Johannesen designed the stamp. The Finnish National Bank Note Printers printed it by offset lithography, comb perforated 14, in panes of 20.
