Series history
Romania issued a 55 bani commemorative on 20 June 1979, lettered 30 DE ANI DE LA CREAREA PRIMELOR DETASAMENTE DE PIONIERI DIN ROMÂNIA and POȘTA ROMÂNĂ. Sava Stoianov designed it; Fabrica de Timbre in Bucharest printed it by photogravure, comb perforated 13½, 27 × 42 mm, without watermark, in a run of 300,000.
The design shows a Pioneer girl in a white shirt, red neckerchief and dark skirt, giving the salute against a solid red field. The Organizația Pionierilor was founded in 1949; the stamp marks thirty years since the first Pioneer detachments.
