Notes
Child's drawing of a Pioneer festival: a crowd of children, Romanian flags and a sun. Vertical legend SERBARE PIONIEREASCĂ; POȘTA ROMÂNĂ 4,80 L; year 1979 in the margin.
Series history
Romania issued a six-value commemorative set on 1 March 1979 reproducing children's drawings, for the International Year of the Child. Sorin Petrusel designed the stamps; Fabrica de Timbre in Bucharest printed them by photogravure, comb perforated 13¼, without watermark. The 4.80 lei (250,000 printed), 48 × 33 mm, is lettered SERBARE PIONIEREASCĂ and POȘTA ROMÂNĂ. The drawing shows a crowd of children at a Pioneer festival, with Romanian flags and a sun at the top.
The other five values of the set reproduce drawings of the heroes of Vaslui, a building site, Tică's folk band, an industrial landscape and winter customs; those subjects are not Pioneer designs.
