Notes
Black surcharge and overprint on the 30 sentimo jeepney definitive: new face 40s beside the original 30s; GSP R ASIA-PACIFIC at left, REGIONAL CAMP PHILIPPINES across the top of the vehicle, and DECEMBER 23, 1980 at right. The underlying stamp is lettered PILIPINAS and Philippine Jeepney and shows a jeepney in three-quarter view.
Series history
The Philippines issued a 40 sentimo surcharge on 2 January 1981, overprinted in black on the 30 sentimo jeepney definitive (another listing gives 5 February). The overprint reads GSP R ASIA-PACIFIC, REGIONAL CAMP PHILIPPINES and DECEMBER 23, 1980; the new 40s face stands beside the original 30s. The Girl Scouts of the Philippines held an Asia-Pacific regional camp on that December date.
The underlying stamp is lettered PILIPINAS and Philippine Jeepney and shows a jeepney in three-quarter view. APO Production Unit printed the original stamp by offset lithography and applied the overprint, line perforated 12½, in panes of 100, on phosphorescent paper with an RP KK watermark. The designer is not established.
