History
Around 1950–1951 the Svenska Scoutunionen (SSU — Swedish Scout Union) issued private labels under the slogan «För Svensk Ungdom» (For Swedish Youth), honouring Count Folke Bernadotte af Wisborg (1895–1948). Bernadotte, a member of the Swedish royal house, was a leading figure in Swedish humanitarian work and Scouting circles; he was assassinated in Jerusalem in September 1948 while serving as United Nations mediator in Palestine. The labels are cinderellas / poster stamps without face value — they never paid Swedish postage.
Three related designs are kept as catalog pieces of this series, all in the collection. The formal blue 1951 label (Colnect «For the Swedish Youth») shows a medallion portrait with the legend «FOLKE BERNADOTTE AF WISBORG 1895–1948», the Scout fleur-de-lis, «FÖR SVENSK UNGDOM» and «SVENSKA SCOUTUNIONEN 1951» (about 26 × 38 mm, perforation about 11½ × 10¾). Two companion sketch-style labels show a left-facing profile of Bernadotte with his signature facsimile and the same «FÖR SVENSK UNGDOM / SVENSKA SCOUTUNIONEN» text: one green dated 1950 at upper left, and one brown/sepia without year date. Artist initial «D.» appears on the designs.
For Scouts-on-Stamps collectors these are Swedish Scout-movement memorial / youth-fund labels tied to Bernadotte’s reputation, not official Postverket commemoratives. They sit beside the earlier Swedish Scout cinderella tradition (e.g. Scouten magazine seals) as private promotional material of the national Scout union.
