Notes
Comb 12×12½. Scout with model aircraft. One value of the four-value Horthy Aviation Fund set (B131–B134). Domfil 941.7.
Series history
On 24 March 1941 Hungary issued a second Horthy National Aviation Fund semi-postal set (following the January 1940 issue with the Scout-and-kite design). Of the four values (Scott B131–B134), only one is scouting: the 10 + 10 fillér lilac-red showing a Scout with a model aircraft (Scott B132 / Michel 652 / Domfil 941.7).
Designed by Sándor Légrády, printed in photogravure, comb 12 × 12½, watermark St. Stephen’s Cross on pyramid. SOSOW records a print run of 200,000 for the Scout value and validity for postage until 30 June 1941. Face is postage plus equal surcharge for the aviation fund.
Besides the normal perforated stamp, an imperforate variety of the Scout design is catalogued here as a second piece. The three non-scout companions of the set (B131, B133, B134), both perforated and imperforate where illustrated, appear only as optional related images.
ATA 1964 notes the Scout with model plane as one of four Horthy Aviation Fund values (B131–B134) that raised funds for civilian and army pilot training; companions show a winged pilot, glider, and the Madonna as patroness of pilots.
