Series history

On 30 April 1950 the Romanian People's Republic issued a three-value commemorative set for the first anniversary of the Young Pioneers organisation (Organizația Pionierilor) — Domfil’s Spanish heading is «1st Anniversary of the Scouts Organisation» (1 Aniversario de la Organización de Exploradores), numbers 950.31–950.33.

The three designs, titled on Colnect as Young Pioneers Making Music, Learning and Marching, are catalogued by Domfil as bugle, scout and march-past: 8 lei blue music/bugle (Scott RO 745 / Michel RO 1226 / Domfil 950.31, designer Pavlin Nazarie, print run about 200,000), 11 lei violet learning (Scott RO 746 / Michel RO 1227 / Domfil 950.32, designer Angela Rosenblum, about 500,000), and 31 lei vermilion marching (Scott RO 747 / Michel RO 1228 / Domfil 950.33, designer Nicolae Popescu, about 500,000). Photogravure at Fabrica de Timbre, Bucharest, comb 14½ × 14, watermark multiple RPR script.

These are the first-anniversary companion to the second-anniversary Pioneer set of 1951, Domfil 951.13–15. For Scouts-on-Stamps collectors they enter the Domfil Scout catalogue as Eastern-bloc Pioneer / «exploradores» youth designs, not as a WOSM jamboree issue. All three values are catalogued here in rising face-value order and are in the collection (sheet SCOUT-1950-ROM-01.1–01.3).
