Notes
Pale fleur-de-lis set in the centre of a stylised flower or Achaemenid-style rosette on a stem with two leaves, against a deep green ground; 1 R. at lower left, IRAN vertical at right, Persian commemorative text at the foot. Domfil 960.11 «Emblema / Emblem».
Series history
Iran issued two commemoratives at Teheran on 18 July 1960 for the Third National Scout Jamboree at Persepolis. Domfil catalogues the pair as 960.11/12.
The 1 rial grey-green on dark green shows a Scout fleur-de-lis set in a stylised floral rosette on a stem (Domfil 960.11 «Emblem», Scott IR 1162, Michel IR 1083). The 6 rials places a row of white tents before the fluted columns of Persepolis, with a winged Scout emblem above (Domfil 960.12 «Camp-site», Scott IR 1163, Michel IR 1084).
The Parliament Printing Office produced both by lithography, perforated 11, on paper watermarked with a Persian inscription and the coat of arms in a circle. Further references are Yvert IR 961–962 and Stanley Gibbons IR 1218–1219. Both values are catalogued here in rising face-value order.
