Series history

Tunisia issued five commemoratives at Tunis on 9 August 1960 for the 4th Pan-Arab Jamboree. The stamps are inscribed 4e JAMBOREE ARABE · 9 AOÛT 1960 and carry the series title RÉPUBLIQUE TUNISIENNE.

Each value has its own designer and engraver. The 10 m green allegory (Combet / Gorgi) shows a young woman and a young man holding a fleur-de-lis between them. The 25 m (El Mekki / Gandon) places three Scout faces in the fingers of a raised hand above a tent, with a red fleur-de-lis beside. The 30 m (Yahia / R. Cami) shows a Scout sounding a horn before a tent among trees. The 40 m (Bellasha / Pheulpin) turns a peacock into a fleur-de-lis with crescent and star. The 60 m purple (Ben Abdallah / Mazelin) shows a Scout with a staff beside a campfire.

L'Institut de Gravure recess-printed the set in panes of twenty-five, perforated 13. Imperforate examples of the five designs are known.
