Series history

Portugal issued a six-value set in Lisbon on 11 June 1962 for the 18th International Scout Conference. The common design by Guilherme Camarinha shows a Scout fleur-de-lis filling the opening of a tent, with further tents pitched beyond; the frame reads 18.ª Conferência Internacional do Escutismo · 1961, the conference year, while the stamps themselves appeared the following June. Denominations run 20 and 50 centavos and 1, 2.50, 3.50 and 6.50 escudos, each in a different colouring of the same vignette.

Print runs are given as 12 million (20 c), 9 million (50 c), 8 million (1 $), 2 million (2.50 $), 1.5 million (3.50 $) and 500,000 (6.50 $). Casa da Moeda; photogravure; perforated 13½. Valid for postage until 30 June 1965.
