Series history

Paraguay issued this tribute to the Boy Scouts on 6 February 1962. The five low values show a scout sounding a bugle beside tents under the heading HOMENAJE A LOS BOY SCOUTS. Three airmail values (12.45, 36 and 50 guaraníes) carry a portrait of Baden-Powell with the fleur-de-lis. The same eight denominations exist imperforate, and a 50 g souvenir sheet — perforated and imperforate — places the Baden-Powell stamp in a green panelled frame reading CORREO DEL PARAGUAY ENERO DE 1962.

Print runs are given as 500,000 for the 10–25 c values, 300,000 for the 30 and 50 c, 10,000 for each airmail value, 5,000 perforated souvenir sheets, and a further imperforate edition of 5,000 sets and 3,000 sheets. Designer Fiorello Botti; lithography; perforated 11½. The stamp imprint reads El Arte S.A.; some sources attribute the printing to the Chilean Mint. The airmail value inscribed G 36 is the 36 guaraníes stamp.
