Scout with a Cyprus mouflon in a hilly landscape

Series history

Cyprus issued three lithographed commemoratives at Kibris on 21 August 1963 for the fiftieth anniversary of the Boy Scout movement on the island (1913–1963). A. Tassos designed the set; Aspioti-Elka Graphic Arts printed it in panes of one hundred on paper watermarked with a map of Cyprus and multiple KCK, perforated 13½ × 14. The issue was withdrawn from sale on 21 August 1964.

The 3 mils shows a Scout saluting at a camp-site. The 20 mils is a Sea Scout with staff beside a coastal harbour. The 150 mils pairs a Scout with a Cyprus mouflon. An imperforate souvenir sheet gathers the three designs under the Republic arms, with simulated stamp perforations; the stamps total 173 mils and the sheet was sold at 250 mils. Print runs were about 1.88 million (3 m), 284,000 (20 m), 173,000 (150 m) and 30,000 sheets. Specimen overprints in red also exist.
