Series history
The Maldives issued four photogravure commemoratives at Malé on 7 December 1963 for the 11th World Scout Jamboree, held at Marathon, Greece, in August that year. Maxim Shamir designed a common type: a Scout fleur-de-lis within a rope circle closed by a reef knot, with the jamboree emblem on a green shield at the centre, the curved legend MALDIVE ISLANDS, and WORLD SCOUT JAMBOREE 1963 below. The values are 2 laari (purple), 3 laari (brown), 25 laari (blue) and 1 rufiyaa (red). Joh. Enschedé printed the set in panes of twelve with decorative Scout borders, perforated 13½.
