Series history
Jordan issued seven triangular stamps on 7 December 1964 for the Jordanian Boy Scouts. Each value shows a scouting activity: crossing a river on a rope bridge (1 f), first aid at an infirmary tent (2 f), gymnastic exercises (3 f), making knots (4 f), cooking over a camp fire (5 f), sailing (35 f), and scouts gathered at the fire-side (50 f). Victor Whitely and David Slater designed the set; Harrison & Sons printed it by lithography, perforated 14. Sources give a print run of 24,000 for each stamp. The same seven values also exist imperforate, with 1,200 sets recorded. An imperforate souvenir sheet of 100 fils repeats the fire-side design within a blue margin bearing English and Arabic inscriptions and fleur-de-lis emblems; 10,000 sheets were issued.
