Imperforate form of the campfire design

Series history

The Malagasy Republic issued a single recess commemorative at Tananarive on 6 June 1964 for the fortieth anniversary of Malagasy Scouting. D. Razafinjato designed and J. Gauthier engraved a reddish-brown night scene: two Scouts in broad-brimmed hats sit before a campfire, with a tent to the left and a traveler's palm to the right. The stamp is inscribed REPOBLIKA MALAGASY and, along the foot, 40e ANNIVERSAIRE DU SCOUTISME MALGACHE 6-6-64. The French Stamp Printing Office printed the issue in panes of twenty-five, perforated 13. An imperforate form of the same design exists. The stamp was withdrawn from sale on 28 February 1968.
