Notes

Stylized flame amid stepped vertical bars; inscribed JAMBORETTE, 1924–1964 and BIGI KROETOE

Series history

Suriname issued four semi-postals at Paramaribo on 29 July 1964 for the fortieth anniversary of Scouting in Surinam and the Jamborette Bigi Kroetoe. The stamps remained valid for postage until 30 June 1965.

Peter Manders designed the set. Each value carries the same emblem: a stylized flame amid stepped vertical bars, inscribed JAMBORETTE, the years 1924 and 1964, BIGI KROETOE and SURINAME. The denominations are 3 + 1 c, 8 + 4 c, 10 + 5 c and 20 + 10 c, each in a different colour combination.

Joh. Enschedé & Sons lithographed the stamps on enamel-coated paper in panes of one hundred. The perforation is 13 × 14.
