Queen Elizabeth II, Scout fleur-de-lis (1914–1964) and proficiency-badge emblems on a maroon ground with light-blue accents; inscribed GOLDEN JUBILEE

Series history

Saint Vincent issued four commemoratives at Kingstown on 23 November 1964 for the fiftieth anniversary of the Boy Scouts of St. Vincent (1914–1964). The stamps were withdrawn from sale on 23 February 1965.

All four values share one design by Victor Whitely: Queen Elizabeth II at upper right, a large Scout fleur-de-lis inscribed BOY SCOUTS between the dates 1914 and 1964, the words GOLDEN JUBILEE below, and circular proficiency-badge emblems flanking the centre. The 1 cent pairs a dark brown ground with a green fleur-de-lis; the 4 cents a maroon ground with a light-blue emblem; the 20 cents a deep violet ground with a yellow emblem; and the 50 cents a dark green ground with a reddish emblem.

Harrison & Sons printed the set by lithography in panes of fifty on paper watermarked St. Edward's Crown and CA multiple, perforated 14½.
