Notes

Green rope figure-of-eight with ON MY HONOUR; Scout fleur-de-lis and E II R under the crown

Series history

Bermuda issued a 2 shilling commemorative at Hamilton on 24 July 1965 for the fiftieth anniversary of Scouting in the islands. Staff artists of Harrison & Sons adapted drawings by William Harrington: a green rope figure-of-eight tied with the Scout promise ON MY HONOUR encloses, on the left, a gold Scout fleur-de-lis and, on the right, the St Edward's Crown above the royal cypher E II R, with the dates 1915–1965 and FIFTY YEARS OF SCOUTING. Harrison & Sons printed about 55,975 copies by photogravure in panes of sixty on paper watermarked with a multiple St Edward's Crown and CA, perforated 12½.
