Series history
Liberia issued a Boy Scouts set at Monrovia on 8 March 1965, honouring Liberian Scouting. E. A. Wright Bank Note Company of Philadelphia printed the issue by lithography on enamel-coated paper; the perforated stamps are gauged about 12½.
The 5 c shows a Scout three-finger salute beside the Liberian Scout fleur-de-lis with the letters RL and the motto «Service Above Self». The 10 c pairs a bugle with the same fleur-de-lis under «Future Leaders of Our Country». The 25 c airmail places the Liberian flag inside a fleur-de-lis with the legend «For Flag and Country». Imperforate singles of the set exist.
A 50 c airmail design shows a globe overlaid with the Liberian Scout fleur-de-lis and the circle legend «World Brotherhood Through Scouting»; it was issued as a perforated stamp and as a souvenir sheet headed «Boy Scouts» / «Republic of Liberia» with flanking RL emblems. The sheet also exists imperforate.
