Series history

Qatar issued eight photogravure commemoratives at Doha on 22 May 1965 honouring the Boy Scouts of Qatar. Five triangular values (1 to 5 naye paise), perforated 14, carry the Qatar Scout fleur-de-lis with an oil derrick at its centre — the 1 and 4 np on a plain field, the 2, 3 and 5 np with a camp-site beside the emblem and a portrait of the ruler in the apex. Three rectangular values (30 np, 40 np and 1 Gulf rupee), perforated 14½ × 14, show Scouts saluting at a camp beneath the Qatar flag and the same Scout emblem. Each of the eight designs was also issued imperforate. A souvenir sheet of 1.70 r places the three rectangular designs side by side under GOVERNMENT OF QATAR; it exists perforated and imperforate. Quantities are given as 25,000 of each stamp and 12,500 souvenir sheets.
