Notes

Sheet of the six values (5, 25, 30, 40, 45 and 50 f) in two columns, RÉPUBLIQUE DE GUINÉE at the head, on a ground patterned with fleurs-de-lis.

Series history

Guinea issued six photogravure commemoratives and a souvenir sheet on 1 July 1969 for the Pionniers de Guinée, the national Pioneer youth movement. The stamps measure 46 × 36 mm and are line perforated 13½; an imperforate printing of the six designs was issued alongside. Each design carries RÉPUBLIQUE DE GUINÉE and a circular fleur-de-lis at upper right. The 5 f shows Pioneers at a campfire; the 25 f a Pioneer in beret before thatched huts; the 30 f a march in yellow neckerchiefs; the 40 f a basketball game at dusk; the 45 f two Pioneers in green neckerchiefs before huts and a mountain. The 50 f shows the movement’s badge — a dove over the Guinean arms, lettered PIONNIER DE GUINEE and PRET A SERVIR — with the slogans NOUS SOMMES LES ENFANTS D'AUJOURD'HUI, LES ESPOIRS DE DEMAIN and PRODUISONS POUR DEVELOPPER LA GUINEE. The souvenir sheet gathers the six values (195 f) on a ground patterned with fleurs-de-lis. Sources give no designer or printer.
