Notes
Diamond stamp: two Scouts in Bhutanese dress cooking over a stone hearth against Himalayan peaks; gold fleur-de-lis at right. Black bars cancel the original 1.25 ngultrum; the stamp is inscribed 20 CH.
Series history
Bhutan released a 20 chetrum provisional surcharge on 2 November 1970, overprinted in black on the diamond-shaped 1.25 ngultrum Scouts cooking stamp of 1967. Harrison & Sons had printed the underlying design by photogravure; it is line perforated 13½. Two Scouts in Bhutanese dress cook over a stone hearth against Himalayan peaks; a gold fleur-de-lis stands at the right, and the stamp is inscribed BHUTAN in English and Dzongkha. Black bars cancel the original 1.25 ngultrum. The surcharge printer is not established. Postal standing of the provisionals is not settled.
