Series history

Chile issued two stamps at Santiago on 10 February 1971 for the sixtieth anniversary of the Asociación de Boy Scouts de Chile. Both show the association emblem: a fleur-de-lis charged with an Andean condor, a starred shield and two further stars on the petals, with LX ANIVERSARIO FUNDACION DE LA ASOCIACION DE BOY SCOUTS DE CHILE at the foot. The 5 centésimo airmail is inscribed CORREO AEREO CHILE and 5 CTS, in brown-olive and lilac-purple. The 1 escudo ordinary is inscribed CORREOS DE CHILE and Eº 1, in carmine-brown and dark blue-green. Casa de Moneda de Chile printed both by offset lithography, comb perforated 14, 29 × 33 mm, in sheets of 50 (10 × 5) or 100 (10 × 10). The imprint in the lower margin reads CASA DE MONEDA DE CHILE 1970. Quantities were 2,501,400 of the 5 centésimo and 2,225,000 of the 1 escudo. They remained valid until 18 October 1975.
