Series history

Dubai issued four commemoratives on 30 August 1971 for the 13th World Scout Jamboree in Japan. The 60 dirhams shows a folding fan, the Scout emblem and a map of Japan. The 1 riyal shows a Scout in a yellow kayak, with another canoe astern. The 1.25 riyals shows a Scout climbing a rock face and two others on the ridge, with a shield inscribed NIPPON. The 3 riyals shows seven Scouts around a campfire at night, tents and palms behind. The 60 dirhams and 1 riyal are inscribed 13th INTERNATIONAL SCOUT MEETING; the 1.25 and 3 riyals are inscribed 13th INTERNATIONAL SCOUT JAMBOREE. Victor Whitely designed the set; Format International printed it in lithography in panes of fifty, perforated 14 × 13½ or 13½ × 14.
