Series history
Liberia issued six commemoratives at Monrovia on 6 August 1971 for the 13th World Scout Jamboree. Victor Whitely designed Scouts of the United States (3 cents), the Federal Republic of Germany (5 cents), Australia (10 cents), Great Britain (12 cents), Japan (20 cents) and Liberia (25 cents), after a Boy Scouts of America Supply Service postcard series. Each stamp is inscribed SERVICE ABOVE SELF and SCOUTS OF THE WORLD JAMBOREE & CONGRESS JAPAN 1971. Format International Security Printers lithographed the set; the stamps exist line perforated 14 and imperforate. A 50 cent airmail souvenir sheet shows Scouts cooking at a campfire, with Girl Guides in the side margins and 13th INTERNATIONAL SCOUT JAMBOREE · JAPAN · AUGUST 1971; it exists line perforated 15 and imperforate.
