A Scout at a cooking fire under a wooden tripod, others gathering wood in camp; a large five-petalled flower at right. Inscribed POSTE AERIENNE, 100F, REPUBLIQUE DU TCHAD. Signed SAMIR GHANTOUS; FABRICA DE TIMBRE-BUCURESTI.

Series history

Chad issued five stamps and a 250 franc airmail souvenir sheet at Fort-Lamy on 15 May 1972. Samir Ghantous designed Scout scenes paired with wildlife: a handshake with pennants and a squirrel (30 francs), a climber and a kite (70 francs), canoeists and a fish (80 francs), camp cooking and a flower (100 francs airmail), and Baden-Powell with a fleur-de-lis (120 francs airmail). The souvenir sheet shows Scouts in grassland, with an ostrich and a palm in the margin. Fabrica de Timbre in Bucharest printed the issue by lithography, comb perforated 13½. Imperforate stamps also exist, as do imperforate souvenir sheets of the five stamp designs.
