Series history

Gabon issued two commemoratives at Libreville on 29 July 1975 for the 14th World Scout Jamboree, Nordjamb 75, in Norway. They are inscribed RÉPUBLIQUE GABONAISE and SCOUTISME. Jacques Combet designed them; E. Locaque engraved them. The Imprimerie des Timbres-Poste, Paris, printed them in recess, comb perforated 13. Pane size is not established.

The 40 franc shows a portrait in Scout uniform with glasses and neckerchief, the name Mba and the dates 2 10 1933 and 31 8 1970, a purple Scout fleur-de-lis in a triangle, the Nordjamb 75 mountain mark, and a knotted rope; it is signed P. COMBET. The 50 franc shows a Scout in hat before tents and a camp-fire, a hand on a staff, and a fleur-de-lis in a rope circle, with the Nordjamb 75 mark at lower right; it is signed COMBET.

Imperforate stamps and deluxe proofs are known; they are not given separate numbers.
