Series history

Grenada issued six commemoratives and a souvenir sheet on 1 June 1976 for the fiftieth anniversary of the Girl Guides of Grenada. Laszlo Gyula Vasarhelyi designed them; House of Questa printed them by offset lithography, 28 × 42 mm, comb perforated 14, in panes of 50. Each stamp is inscribed 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF GIRL GUIDES IN GRENADA and GRENADA, with a proficiency badge and a gold trefoil at upper left and a strip of seven Guides signalling with semaphore flags above the country name.

The ½ cent shows a Guide tending flowers. The 1 cent shows a Guide cooking at a camp fire. The 2 cents shows two Guides carrying a third in a two-handed seat. The 50 cents shows a Guide driving a tent peg. The 75 cents shows a Guide sweeping. The 2 dollars shows a Guide at an open first-aid box. A souvenir sheet, 111 × 85 mm, places a 1 dollar stamp of a Guide sketching on a camp margin with the Grenada flag, a blue Guide flag, tents and two large GG trefoils.
