A Guide in blue hoists the Dominica flag (green, red disc, parrot) while three Guides in brown stand at attention. Yellow frame; COMMONWEALTH OF DOMINICA at left; GOLDEN JUBILEE GIRL GUIDES 1929-1979 and a purple flower at right. Offset lithography, comb perforated 14.

Series history

Dominica issued four commemoratives and a souvenir sheet at Roseau on 30 July 1979 for the golden jubilee of the Girl Guides on the island, 1929–1979. Max Diamond designed the issue; Questa printed it by offset lithography, comb perforated 14, the stamps in panes of forty as two panes of twenty with gutter pairs. Each stamp is lettered COMMONWEALTH OF DOMINICA and GOLDEN JUBILEE GIRL GUIDES 1929-1979, with a purple flower at the right. The 10 cents shows four Guides in blue at a camp-fire, one kneeling at a pot. The 20 cents shows four Guides pitching a white ridge tent. The 50 cents shows a Guide hoisting the Dominica flag while three Guides in brown stand at attention. The $2.50 shows a Guide playing an accordion and three younger Guides singing. The souvenir sheet, 110 × 85 mm, holds a $3 stamp of four Guides on a wooden pier in a harbour, with a ship, a small boat, hills and a faint rainbow, lettered GOLDEN JUBILEE OF GIRL GUIDES.
