Series history
The Philippines overprinted, in black, the 1959 tenth World Jamboree 6 + 4 centavos cooking stamp and that issue's five-design souvenir sheet, released at Manila on 4 July 1979 for the First Scout Philatelic Exhibition (4–14 July, Metro Manila, North Council) and for the twenty-fifth anniversary of the first National Jamboree at Balara, Quezon City. The single is revalued AIRMAIL 90s, with two bars over the original 6 + 4 CENTAVOS; it also carries 1ST SCOUT PHILATELIC EXHIBITION, a Scout fleur-de-lis, and JULY 4-14, 1979 QUEZON CITY. Three hundred thousand were issued. The souvenir sheet, 171 × 90 mm, holds five 50-sentimo stamps in red, blue, violet, brown and green, each overprinted with the exhibition title and the Boy Scouts of the Philippines emblem. The margin names the Balara anniversary and the exhibition dates; bars cover the original 1959 sheet inscription. Forty thousand sheets were issued. Both remain comb perforated 13 from the original recess plates.
