Inscribed STAFFA Scotland and 25. A Scout in khaki uniform, campaign hat, neckerchief, shorts and knee socks stands on open ground holding a tall staff with a pennant. Caption SCOUT UNIFORM OF EL SALVADOR. A Scout fleur-de-lis sits in each upper corner of the photograph.
Series history
Staffa is an uninhabited island of the Inner Hebrides. Labels inscribed STAFFA Scotland were sold as local or tourist souvenirs; they are cinderellas, not British postage stamps, and are associated with Clive Feigenbaum. This pair is dated 12 December 1979 and belongs to a Scouts of the World series of photographed uniforms. Designer, printer and size are not established. The labels have no postage-catalogue numbers.
Each stamp is perforated, lettered STAFFA Scotland, and carries a Scout fleur-de-lis in both upper corners of the photograph. The 25 p shows a Scout in khaki with a campaign hat and a tall staff, captioned SCOUT UNIFORM OF EL SALVADOR. The 75 p shows a Scout in green with a red neckerchief and a side cap, captioned SCOUT UNIFORM OF FAROE ISLANDS. The two designs were also issued together as a miniature sheet.
