Series history

Tonga issued ten self-adhesive commemoratives at Nuku'alofa on 30 September 1980 for the South Pacific Jamboree and the 75th anniversary of Rotary International. Each stamp is lettered Nuku'alofa Club Participation. Walsall Security Printers designed and lithographed the issue. The stamps are die-cut on peelable backing, issued in panes of 20, with advertising on the reverse of the release paper.

Four postage values, die-cut as a tent triangle with a tablet for the face value, show a Scout cooking over a campfire. They are lettered TONGA, South Pacific Jamboree, Nuku'alofa Club Participation, 75th Rotary Anniversary and Postage, with a Rotary wheel beside the value: 9, 13, 15 and 30 seniti.

Four airmail values are die-cut as a scalloped Rotary gear. They name Tonga and Airmail, carry SOUTH PACIFIC JAMBOREE and NUKU'ALOFA CLUB PARTICIPATION, and place ROTARY 75th ANNIVERSARY at the hub, with line drawings of Scouts cooking, saluting, canoeing, hiking and swimming: 29, 32 and 47 seniti and 1 paʻanga.

Two official airmail values are die-cut as a pair of ridge tents over a Rotary wheel. They are lettered TONGA, OFFICIAL AIRMAIL, South Pacific Jamboree, 75th Rotary Anniversary and NUKU'ALOFA CLUB PARTICIPATION, with two Scouts drawn in each tent opening: 25 seniti and 2 paʻanga.
