A woman in a yellow-green Scout shirt and blue neckerchief stands with her hand on the shoulder of a boy in a green Cub uniform and cap. A pale fleur-de-lis fills the mauve ground. Lettered NEDERLANDSE ANTILLEN, 45+20 c, DE ANTILLIAANSE PADVINDERS 1930-1980 and 1981.
Series history
The Netherlands Antilles issued three semi-postal commemoratives and a souvenir sheet at Curaçao on 16 September 1981 for the fiftieth anniversary of the Antillean Pathfinders. Each stamp is lettered NEDERLANDSE ANTILLEN, DE ANTILLIAANSE PADVINDERS 1930-1980 and 1981.
The 45+20 cents, on a mauve ground, shows a woman in a yellow-green Scout shirt and blue neckerchief with her hand on the shoulder of a boy in a green Cub uniform; a pale fleur-de-lis fills the background. The 70+25 cents, on green, is a portrait of M. van der Maarel in a campaign hat and khaki shirt, lettered STICHTER M. VAN DER MAAREL. The 1.00+50 cents, on dark teal, shows the landhuis at Ronde Klip, lettered HOOFDKWARTIER LANDHUIS RONDE KLIP.
Armando Ravelo designed the set. Joh. Enschedé printed 250,000 of each stamp by offset lithography, comb perforated 14 × 12¾, in panes of 50. The 45+20 cents measures 37 × 26 mm; the other two 36 × 25 mm. The souvenir sheet, 144 × 50 mm, gathers the three designs in a horizontal strip under Sociale en Culturele Zorg 1981; 125,000 were printed, comb perforated 13½ × 12¾ around the stamps. The issue was withdrawn from sale on 15 November 1981.
