Black 100 surcharge on the 1969 8 cent 3rd Caribbean Scouts Jamboree design: a Scout in a beret tending a pot over a fire in a lashed-pole frame, lettered 3rd Caribbean Scouts Jamboree 1969, GUYANA, SOUTH AMERICA and 8c.
Series history
Guyana revalued remainders of the 1969 3rd Caribbean Scouts Jamboree 6 cent and 8 cent stamps for postal use. Bovell's Printery applied a black numeral surcharge. Jennifer Toombs designed the underlying stamps; Bradbury Wilkinson lithographed them, comb perforated 13½, 42 × 28 mm, on paper watermarked with a multiple lotus blossom. They are lettered 3rd Caribbean Scouts Jamboree 1969, GUYANA and SOUTH AMERICA.
Four values were issued on 1 July 1981: 100 cents on the 8 cent cooking design (a Scout in a beret tending a pot over a fire) and 110, 400 and 440 cents on the 6 cent flag design (three Scouts at a flagpole, two saluting while the centre Scout holds the Golden Arrowhead). Two further 6 cent flag values followed on 15 September 1981: 55 cents and 180 cents. The 440 cent surcharge exists with the second 4 in two sizes; the stamp listed here has the smaller second 4.
