Notes
Ochre vertical stamp with a white Scout fleur-de-lis at centre: brown lotus on the middle petal, a five-pointed star on each side petal, and a blue central band; UAR / 1968 at upper left; BOY SCOUTS OF EGYPT 1918-1968 and bilingual 10 M at the foot.
Series history
Egypt issued a single 10 millième commemorative at Cairo on 1 November 1968 for the fiftieth anniversary of the Egyptian Boy Scouts (1918–1968). The ochre design centres a white Scout fleur-de-lis: the middle petal holds a brown lotus motif, the side petals each carry a five-pointed star, and a blue band crosses the emblem. The stamp is inscribed UAR and 1968 at upper left, with matching Arabic at upper right; the lower margin reads BOY SCOUTS OF EGYPT 1918-1968 beside the bilingual face value 10 M. One million copies were printed in panes of fifty by the Postal Authority Printing House, in photogravure, comb perforated 11 × 11¼. Sources do not name the designer. The issue belongs to the United Arab Republic period of Egyptian stamps.
